The Chairperson of the Board of the LPDF, Ms Nomahlubi Khwinana, extends an invitation to attend the Legal Practitioners Development Fund
The tagline for our newsletter, brought to you by the LPDF – your partner of choice in funding legal practitioners, is “your legal link” and that is the very reason behind this monthly communication – as the Legal Practitioners Development Fund (LPDF) we are committed to providing ongoing strategic and technical support, as well as mentorship, to ensure the growth of legal practitioners.
Library information Sessions were started in 2015 at the Law Society of South Africa Annual General Meeting by the Law Society Library Chief Librarian, Mr Thembinkosi Ngcobo, supported by Mr Thomas Harban, General Manager at the Attorneys Insurance Indemnity Fund, Mr Ogilvie Ramoshaba, Senior manager at the Law Society of South Africa L.E.A.D and Chief Executive Officer of the Legal Practitioners Development Fund, Mackenzie Mukansi.
The information sessions have grown, and in some towns are accepted as an annual event due to the value the sessions bring to the practitioners in each centre.
The hallmark of these sessions is the inclusiveness of the invited delegates, which include practitioners from all walks of the profession, not limited to those governed by the soon to be phased out attorneys Act.

The thought behind the collaboration between the Legal Practitioners and Advocates was the brain child of our own Director, Gavin McLachlan. With the support of LexisNexis, Mr McLachlan recognised the value in having young Legal Practitioners and young Advocates alike interacting in a manner that fostered early relations in a networked environment, where regulatory and market related information is shared for mutual benefit and understanding. This is done in the interest of allowing access to justice in a collaborative manner that manifests itself in a coordinated and objective based relationship.
Future events will be showcased in this platform – watch this space for upcoming events in your area and galleries of past events.
The theme, as from 2016, was dubbed ‘A Risk Management Approach to Legal Services’, a solid value proposition where the sessions are put out to market in a continued robust manner to ensure that the environment where legal services are ploughed are safe for both practitioner and clients.
The LPDF enjoys the support of our partners LexisNexis and AJS who accompany us on the events to supply marketing and other material of benefit to delegates who attend the sessions.
